• Demand for hotels in Bandung is becoming increasingly consistent throughout the year, driven by a rise in short trips, weekend getaways, educational activities, and various events. RedDoorz reports that 96% of bookings in the city are for stays of one to two nights, with 80% made at the last minute—highlighting Bandung's growing appeal as a short-getaway destination and presenting a growth opportunity for independent hotels.

Bandung, February 20, 2026 – Hotel demand trends in Bandung have shown a significant shift in recent years. While occupancy was previously highly dependent on holiday seasons and long weekends, room demand is now becoming more evenly distributed throughout the year. This change is driven by the increasing number of short stays, weekend trips, educational activities, and various events regularly held in the city.

“Bandung is transforming from a holiday city into a destination with consistent demand. Guests are now visiting more frequently with shorter stays. For hotels, this means more stable occupancy throughout the month,” said Ronald Tjandra, General Manager Area West & Central Java, RedDoorz.

RedDoorz has observed several changes in guest behavior in Bandung. As many as 96% of bookings are dominated by stays of one to two nights, while 80% of room bookings are made last-minute. This trend indicates that Bandung is increasingly being chosen as a spontaneous destination for short getaways, rather than solely for longer holiday trips.

Alongside this trend, guest preferences are also shifting toward accommodations that offer the best value. Affordable prices, strategic locations, and convenient digital booking options have also become key factors in decision-making. This condition is also driving the growth of budget hotels that cater to short-stay travel needs.

For hotel owners, the more evenly distributed demand has a direct impact on business performance. Several RedDoorz partners in Bandung have recorded increased occupancy, more stable monthly revenue, and broader online distribution reach.

“I joined RedDoorz’s multi-brand, URBANVIEW, in February 2024. After joining, room sales at my hotel increased, with more than 3,000 rooms sold throughout 2025, while hotel revenue also increased by up to 33%,” said Tri Martini, Owner of URBANVIEW Hotel 3m Syariah Bandung.

Currently, RedDoorz partners with more than 200 independent hotels in Bandung. Based on RedDoorz data, during the 2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period, the city recorded a surge in bookings to more than 21,000 rooms, an 18% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

Structurally, Bandung has a strong foundation of demand. Its proximity to Jakarta, large education ecosystem, active event calendar, as well as its culinary and lifestyle attractions create recurring visitor flows rather than purely seasonal demand.

Another supporting factor comes from the extensive infrastructure development over the past five years. One of the most significant developments is the presence of the Whoosh high-speed railway, which serves the Jakarta–Bandung route. Based on data from Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), from January to October 2025, Whoosh served more than 5.1 million passengers, an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period the previous year. Faster access has also contributed to increased tourist mobility and short trips to Bandung.

Looking ahead, optimism is also supported by the planned development of the Bandung Intra Urban Toll Road (BIUTR), which is set to begin in 2026. The project is expected to help ease traffic congestion within the city while improving mobility, thereby having a positive impact on economic activity, including the hospitality and tourism industries.

Given this potential, RedDoorz sees locally driven strategies as key to capturing growth opportunities. By utilizing demand data, optimizing technology-based pricing, and leveraging broad digital distribution, independent hotels can improve their competitiveness while maintaining profitability.

“Every city has different characteristics. Understanding guest behavior at the city level, supported by a professional local team, will help hotels establish more accurate pricing and marketing strategies. Bandung shows that consistent demand can become a foundation for long-term growth,” Ronald concluded.
