Jakarta, April 7, 2026 – RedDoorz, a leading multi-brand hospitality and accommodation technology platform in Southeast Asia, recorded a significant increase in accommodation demand during the 2026 Eid homecoming and post-Eid periods, driven by strong domestic tourist mobility and changing travel patterns.
Overall, data from the Ministry of Transportation shows that total public mobility during the 2026 Eid Transportation period reached 147.55 million people, an increase of 2.53%. The data also shows that West Java (30.97 million) and DKI Jakarta (19.93 million) were the main contributors in terms of travelers’ regions of origin, while Central Java (38.71 million) and West Java (25.09 million) were among the destinations with the highest number of travelers in Indonesia. This trend was also reflected in RedDoorz’s internal data, which showed a significant increase, with occupancy across all RedDoorz multi-brand lines (RedDoorz, SANS, URBANVIEW, and The Lavana) increasing by 64% year-on-year (YoY). In terms of volume, room sales also more than doubled to over 255,000, representing a 109% year-on-year (YoY) increase.
“This year’s Eid momentum shows that demand for domestic accommodation remains very strong, even continuing after the peak holiday period. This is evident from the highest room demand recorded on March 23–25, 2026, with daily room sales exceeding 23,000,” said Vibhor Atal, Director of Demand at RedDoorz.
Several cities, including Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, and Bogor, were among the main contributors, with leisure destinations such as Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Bogor recording higher demand, reaffirming that recreation-based travel remains a preferred choice for Indonesians during the Eid period.
RedDoorz also observed a trend of travelers extending their trips after Eid, turning the traditional homecoming journey into short vacations or multi-city trips. The family segment was a key driver, with a preference for accommodation that is affordable, comfortable, and easily accessible. In terms of bookings, the majority of travelers planned their trips in advance, with bookings made an average of 3–4 days before the check-in date, indicating a balance between travel planning and flexibility.
“This change in behavior shows that domestic travel is now no longer centered solely around the Eid period, but is also evolving into longer and more planned holiday experiences, thereby driving accommodation demand among our partners,” Vibhor added.
The increase in demand is also in line with broader trends in the domestic tourism industry, where travelers are becoming increasingly selective in choosing accommodations that offer the best value.
Looking ahead, RedDoorz expects demand to remain above normal levels for several weeks after Eid before gradually stabilizing. This trend is supported by strong interest in domestic travel, travel flexibility, and growing demand for accommodations that offer value for money. The company also sees this momentum as an opportunity to continue strengthening its property partner network in high-demand cities, while improving service quality to meet the increasingly dynamic needs of travelers.
“We see that domestic travel will continue to be the backbone of the tourism industry. RedDoorz will continue to focus on providing relevant, affordable, and quality accommodation for the people of Indonesia,” Vibhor concluded.
